Wouldn’t you know it
The procedure of procedures
I’m in my third waiting room in as many days waiting for a procedure to be completed.
Procedure 1: local box store to see about blinds. Text messages to set up measurement technician. Emails with design consultant because — wouldn’t you know it — the color we chose was not available in the width we needed. Download a site with colors and styles and select 4 “possibles.” Back to the store to touch and feel the actual samples of fabric and color. Found it! Text messages to be informed of delivery. Text and email to set up installation. And finally the arrival of Lennon who unwrapped the package we had received 2-3 days earlier. We get to make soup and watch while the procedure is completed.
Procedure 2: local auto dealer to drive the new model car we’ve researched for 3 weeks. Consult with sales about our trade (if you’re a regular reader you might remember our F-150). Decide on options and specific model and — wouldn’t you know it — the car is not on the lot. Arriving next day from somewhere that puts 151 miles on the odometer. Return next day to finalize loan and 47 other docs which means we must have credit info available. And — wouldn’t you know it — finance person cannot get credit score for Mr Husband even though logging in says it’s not locked. The good news is I now own a new car; the very bad news is that it took 3 hours to finish the procedure. Dinner finally at 9 after we put new car into the garage. #bigsigh
Procedure 3: Too late to bed after the late dinner so no sleep. Up early to drive (in new car) to hospital for surgery check in at 8am. Mr Husband is finally in procedure and — wouldn’t you know it — it’s starting late. But I forget. When you enter the domain of the big medical place you enter “hospital time.” So the waiting room and I and my knitting are having a quiet time together. Wouldn’t you know it — I’ve left my only working hearing aid at home so I’m unable to listen to my audiobook; memo to self: carry your AirPods.
The only procedure remaining will be the ice and physical therapy to advance the healing of Mr Husband’s right knee replacement.
Hope this finds your life procedures processing well.
